SHENAE GRIMES-BEECH

ILLUMINATED

Reading:

One of my closest pals recently launched her own makeup line and I was lucky enough to receive a care package of all the amazing products!  When she invited me to attend her recent movie premiere for the HILARIOUS comedy Amateur Night, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out her line and do a step-by-step make up guide for all of you!  Here is a how-to for my evening bronzed beauty look using Illuminate by Ashley Tisdale:

CHEEKS (BLUSH AND HIGHLIGHTER) – Once my foundation, concealer and brows were down, I had a clean canvas for the fun stuff.  I started with the Cream Cheek and Lip Tint in ‘Coco’ for the apples of my cheeks, applied with my fingertips.  I then highlighted my cheekbone up to my temple with the Illuminating Shimmer in ‘Beach Bum’.  This namesake powder, in particular, is magic.  It gives you that fairy-like glow that I’ve never figured out how to achieve before.

EYE BASE – Using the ‘Beach Goddess’ Palette for my eyes, I started with ‘Fuji’ all over my lid.  The pale peach shimmer was the perfect base for my evening bronzed beauty look.

EYELID & UNDEREYE – I then used a beautiful light-medium brown shimmer shadow called ‘Belize’ on my lid, never extending higher than my crease. Afterwards, I used a smaller brush to sweep the same shadow along my lower lash line.

EYE CREASE – I added some definition to the crease of my eye with the ‘Barbados’ matte dark brown combined with the ‘St. Barts’ shimmering copper tone.  I’m normally a matte kinda gal but all of the shimmer shades in this palette were stunning so I had to try them all!

EYE HIGHLIGHT – Finally, I popped my eye look with a highlighter called ‘St. Lucia’ dabbed into the inner corner of my eye and swiped across my brow bone.

BRONZER- I like to go in with bronzer once my face is complete so I can add minimal extra tan where needed for a sun-kissed glow.  With a fan brush, I applied the ‘Seychelles’ bronzer from the same ‘Beach Goddess’ palette as the shadows used on my eyes to my cheekbones, hairline and jawline.

LIPS – To complete my Illuminate makeup look I generously applied the Enhancing Lip Gloss in ‘Skinny Dipping’!

With a little black eyeliner and a couple coats of mascara, I was on my way to Ashley’s big night feeling like an illuminated beach goddess, indeed.  Congrats on the makeup line and the new movie, you #girlboss!

Since Bowie was born I've been more motivated than ever to show up as the best version of me and also share the experiences of those who have a new perspective to share that could make us all better people. So with that, here's a space for you to learn, explore, and sit beside me as I navigate this world through this new lens.

Content Creator. Mama to Bowie. Wife to Josh. Straight Talker. DIY'er. You may also know me from my roles in 90210 and Degrassi.

Motherhood does a great job at putting a mirror up to you in the form of a child and because of that I've found myself gravitating toward spaces where I can learn and evolve as a person.
