Fuck New Year’s!
I know, I know… it’s an aggressive title but I don’t fuck around with expressing how I really feel on this blog and those three words sum it up. I hate New Year’s. Always have. It’s the one holiday that is consistently grossly over-hyped, over-priced and underwhelming. It ultimately leaves you with an emotional hangover, whether you drank the night before or not. All of this “new year, new you” pressure to wake up like a brand new human the morning of a new year is simply bullshit.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried that mantra on for size myself. I’ve set the resolutions and goals that would change my life for the year ahead. But there was no follow-through.
I didn’t keep them up. I didn’t fundamentally change myself or my lifestyle overnight. It’s a ridiculous notion that one possibly could because who we are is an amalgamation of a whole lot of years of nature and nurture and habits are rituals that take time to cultivate and even longer to break.

Let me skip the part where you set New Year’s resolutions you inevitably won’t stick to and feel like shit about it until you’re deep enough into 2021 to forget about them and break down some hard truths for you real quick. I promise, I say the following with love.
On January 1st, 2021 you will more than likely…
NOT start meditating daily for the rest of forever if you’ve never meditated before.
NOT start strictly eating food that tastes like grass and cut out carbs and sugar completely if you currently eat and enjoy carbs and sugar far more than green things right now.
NOT work out 5 times a week if you haven’t broken a sweat in a long ass time.
NOT become Marie Kondo if your home is and always has been a functioning hot mess.
…
The list could go on but you get the point!
Here’s the best part of all that truth that not enough people tell you around this time of year…
IT’S OKAY!
It’s okay that we are human and despite our collective best efforts and bullshit facades on Instagram we don’t have it all together. It’s okay that at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve a magical fairy Godmother doesn’t come wave a wand and whip your life into shape in one fell swoop.
I’m all for bettering yourself and your life as a whole. I strive to do that every day and I believe in the power of habit making and breaking to aid you on your journey towards your “hashtag life goals” or whatever. I also know with my whole heart that you are capable of doing, achieving and attaining anything you desire. You CAN do those things I mentioned above or any other “resolution” or goal you may have, but you can do it at any time in your life, so I’ll say it again for the people in the back still sweating the societal pressures to perform on January 1st…
Fuck New Year’s!

I want to liberate you from pressures of New Year’s resolutions this year, because it’s been a hard fucking year and no one needs another reason to feel like shit. You can change your life at any moment of any day. It will also likely take more than one fucking day to truly implement these changes and see your life bear the fruits of them!
My holiday gift to this incredible digital community this year is a free 12-day program I created to propel you forward in your life and feel good about where you are every step of the way.
SIGN UP HERE and you’ll receive the first day of Go Your Own Way on January 1!
P.S. Because I’m also a believer in the power of accountability, this program is set up as a daily e-mail instead of a PDF download. Of course, you can go at your own pace and leave things in your inbox until you’re ready to read them but my intention is to support you daily in your inbox over these 12 days. One major personal takeaway from 2020 has been the importance of showing up so I encourage you to show up for yourself and take advantage of this gift because you deserve it!
